What to Look for at Goodwill Outlet
We’ve been to our local Goodwill Outlet multiple times and have find a few treasures that we were able to resell for profit on eBay.
In this post, I thought I’d share some of our best and most favorite finds from the past few years. As eBay sellers, we are looking for things we resell on eBay and make a profit from. Hopefully, this post will be helpful in giving you ideas of thing to look for on your next trip to Goodwill Outlet or any pay by the pound thrift store.

New Electric Typewriter
We pick up literally anything that’s new. We saw this Brother electric typewriter as soon as the new bin got rolled out, set our eye on it, and snatched it up. A lot of people might have passed it by because “who uses electric typewriters anymore?”.
After we sold this item (which didn’t take long) we got a message from the buyer on eBay saying they bought this for their father as a Christmas gift and how much he loves typing with electric typewriters. It was really neat to hear the story behind why they bought it.

Professional Turntable
We had very little idea of what we were looking at when we picked up this professional DJ turntable but it was something unique that caught out eye so we grabbed it. We didn’t realize it initially but it was missing the rubber mat for the record to sit on, but we were able to test that it worked.
This is the perfect example of picking up things you know absolutely nothing about. If your gut tells you that could be something good, just pick it up and research it later.

Dual Cassette Tape Player
We’d sold a few of these dual cassette tape players in the past so when we saw it we picked it up right away. It almost doesn’t matter what brand they are, they seem to sell very well. Never underestimate vintage electronics, People still buy them.
We were able to test the player in the store by plugging it into an outlet. We also found a few cassette tapes laying around to make sure they played. This was a great find!

Sale Price:
$34.99 + $13.67 shipping
Mirro Cake Plan Lid
This is a great example of selling parts from units instead of the entire piece. With this particular one, the pan wasn’t there, only the sliding lid. Most people would pass right by this because the pan wasn’t there, but I recognized that it was a piece of vintage bakeware so I took a chance and picked it up.
We didn’t have to do much cleaning on it, thankfully. Any bakeware you find that look vintage is worth looking up. This includes Pyrex, Tupperware, Corningware, etc.

New IKEA Items
We have never shopped at IKEA, so when we ran across thes new curtains we weren’t really sure if it was a good find or not. We mainly grabbed it because it was new in a sealed package and we pretty much grab anything that’s new. We knew IKEA was a popular store, so we took a chance on it. Once we researched the prices on eBay, we knew we had a good find!
The only issue we had with it was there isn’t a clear picture of what it was on the package. When we finally found a stock photo of them, we were able to show what they were.
Item Cost:
$1.35
Sale Price:
$29.99 + $21.00 shipping
Furbies
Believe it or not, Furbies can actually still be valuable! You’ll want to do your research as there are some worth absolutely nothing. If you see one, definitely put it in your cart and research it later. I always just grab them… don’t look it over, just put it in your cart and you can take a closer look later.
Here is the Furby we found. We had to take a chance on it because it didn’t have batteries so we couldn’t fully test it in the store. However, it was in great condition so we went for it. Thankfully we got it home and it worked perfectly!
Item Cost:
$0.89
Sale Price:
$29.99 + $10.25 shipping
Heated Massagers
This happened to be a Homedics brand and other brands might not have done as well for us. Another benefit to this particular massager is it was heated and did the back, shoulders, and thighs.
We were able to test this full body massager in the store by pluggin it into an outlet.
Item Cost:
$1.08
Sale Price:
$29.99 + $8.90 shipping
Waterpik
We’ve actually sold a couple of Waterpik Waterflossers and this one did just as well for us. However, it was kind of a mess when we first found it. It was halfway out of the box and the top part was missing. When I saw it, I put the unit and box in my cart and then looked around to see if I could find the missing parts. I ended up finding the top part in one of the other bins, and needless to say, I was very excited about that! 🙂
This is a prime example of why you should definitely look in all the surrounding bins for missing parts. Things get shuffled around as people are digging and throwing, so you never know where you might find the missing pieces.
Item Cost:
$1.08
Sale Price:
$27.99 + $7.45 shipping
Juicer Parts
We always keep our eye out for juicers because we know that we can sell the parts and make a lot of money. People love to buy parts because they don’t want to buy a whole new unit just because one part broke. On this particular trip, we actually found a juicer attachment that goes on a food processor.
We were originally thinking we might sell these as individual parts but since the box, instructions, and all parts were included, we sold the whole thing together.
Item Cost:
$1.08
Sale Price:
$24.99 + $16.45 shipping
Polaroid Camera
Polaroid cameras are another item that you should always keep an eye out for. Some are worth more than others, just like anything else, but you should always grab them and research them later.
This was a newer model that sold very well at the time. It didn’t include any film and we didn’t have any on hand so we could fully test the camera. We just listed it as untested (like we do with most Polaroid cameras) and someone still sold it.
Item Cost:
$1.08
Sale Price:
$24.99 + $10.50 shipping
