Sell Unused Printer Ink Cartridges on eBay
Another common thing you can sell is unused printer ink cartridges on eBay. Printer ink is one of those things that people have to have so they are willing to find what they need on eBay and try to get a better deal than the store.
You can sell unused printer ink cartridges on eBay for a wide range of prices. If you can find a wholesale lot of printer ink and toner, you can make a lot of money by reselling them. Also, they are super easy to list on eBay because they are new in the packages.
If you plan to resell printer ink on eBay, here are some tips and good things to know.
How Much is Printer Ink Worth?
For decent ink, you can expect to sell them for between $30 and $100 depending on if you’re selling just one cartridge or a wholesale lot.
The downside to reselling printer ink is there are a lot of aftermarket and refill kits on eBay that are selling for close to nothing. If you have printer ink that is original and genuine from the manufacturer, make sure to state that in the title and description of our listing.
The value of printer ink depends mostly on the brand and model of printer that the ink is made for. Later in this article, I’ll share the best selling printer ink brands.
Can I Ship Printer Ink?
According to USPS, printer ink is considered flammable. However, as long as the ink is “cushioned with sufficient absorbent material to take up all liquid contents in case of leakage” and “packed within a sealed, leakproof outer packaging”, they can be shipped.

Inks are defined as colored liquids used for writing, drawing, etc., and liquids and pastes used in printing. Printing inks usually are mixtures of finely divided pigments, such as carbon black suspended in a drying oil. Inks having hazardous characteristics are generally classified as combustible or flammable liquids and are mailable, provided they can qualify as a consumer commodity material or ORM-D (for surface only), and meet the applicable requirements in 343.21 or 343.22. Mailpieces must be prepared using Packaging Instruction 3A or 3B in Appendix C, as applicable. In addition, the following conditions apply:
Regardless of the size or type of container, the primary receptacle(s) containing inks must be cushioned with sufficient absorbent material to take up all liquid contents in case of leakage.
The primary receptacle(s) and the absorbent cushioning material must be packed within a sealed, leakproof outer packaging.
Inks that are flammable or combustible liquids must meet the quantity restrictions, packaging requirements, and air or surface transportation conditions that apply under 343.2.
Best Selling Printer Ink on eBay
Any brand on printer ink is going to have it’s high-end ink and ink for their cheaper models. Therefore, it’s important to research the type of ink you find to make sure it’s worth reselling. Here is a general list of ink brands to keep an eye out for.
Epson printer ink. From what I could tell, it appears that even some of the cheaper models sell for around $15. I would look up any Epson ink cartridges to see if they’re worth reselling. If you only have a couple of dollars invested, it will probably be worth it.
Canon printer ink. Just like with Epson, even the cheaper Canon printer ink models seem to sell for good prices. There are a lot of aftermarket cartridges available as well, so if you have genuine Canon printer ink, you could have an advantage.
Lexmark printer ink. It appears with Lexmark ink that you need the higher end models or large wholesale lots to really make decent money. The cheaper models sell for sometimes less than $10, barely making it worth your time.
